Marshall Family Kingmaker

Wandering Aimlessly

Yui, a mysterious person with a cat has joined the party while Kirito is away.

The party followed the bees to their hive in a cave in the roots of a tree. Just inside the entrance was an old bear. Gritzl thought that the bear was probably a friend of the bees, and didn’t want to harm it. Asuna tried to walk past the bear even though it was growling and baring its teeth. As she did so, the bear attacked her, grabbing hold of her in his claws.

Yui cast a spell making the bear afraid of her. Gritzl tried to cast a spell to put it to sleep, but was unable to do so. Fortunately, the spell cast by Yui took effect and the bear dropped Asuna and ran away.

The party continued deeper into the hive, finding that it was lit by lights made with strangely glowing honey. As they moved further in, the bees flying through the passage way joined together into the shape of the girl they’d seen before. The girl warned the party not to continue deeper into the hive.

The bear had continued further down and could be seen stuck in some honey. The party worked to free the bear, and then decided to heed the girl’s warnings and leave the hive for now.

They journeyed back through the forest towards Oleg’s trading post. As they did so, they caught a glimpse of a faerie dragon.

At the trading post they discussed the temple of Erastil with Jhod Kavken. Jhod seems to be a priest of Erastil who has offered to cast spells for the party in return for their aid in restoring the temple of Erastil in the woods. He said that he has taken a vow of pacifism, and will shed no blood, but is happy to assist the party in other ways if he can.

To the Bees

Asuna and Kitito met two new companions in Restov – Gritzl and Gideon. Gritzl is a gnome witch, while Gideon is a noble war priest of Iomedae. They joined up to travel south to explore the Stolen Lands.

After enquiring on the whereabouts of Harfeld and Freylaise at Oleg’s they found out that Harfeld and Freylaise had set off to find honey in the forest, but hadn’t been seen or heard of for a number of days.

The party set out to explore the forest, and found that it was playing strange tricks on them, which Gritzl found very amusing. They found two nests in the trees, which Gritzl believed belonged to some kind of fey creatures.

Gritzl tried giving then one of her bracelets and some bit of her trail rations. She has caught a glimpse of a fairy dragon, and received a feather back from them, but hasn’t established any further contact with them.

Pressing deeper into the forest, they encountered a glade with trees covered with vines and hundreds of buzzing bees. They noticed a child playing at the far end of the glade, and Asuna stepped forwards towards them. She was distracted by the sound of her brother calling to her for help from behind some trees.

As Asuna moved through the glade looking for her brother, she was attacked by a boar. The rest of the party came forward to her aid. As they did so, Gideon realised that the grass in the glade appeared to be covered in honey, while Gritzl noticed a number of bats flying about. Kitito didn’t see anything strange and doesn’t understand what is making the others so confused.

After dispatching the boar, Asuna continued to look for her family, but realised she could never track them down.

Gritzl talked to the bees and found out that they could find the hive by following the bees. They would have to speak to the Queen to find out if they could have any honey.

Vale Harfeld and Freyalise

After clearing out the temple in the last session, Harfeld and Freyalise were attacked by an owlbear in the night. Harfeld and Freyalise fought bravely, but were no match for the ferocious beast.

Kitito and Asuna spent four days in the city relaxing on their holiday, and then another four days preparing to return to the Stolen Lands.

Separate Paths

The party made its way from Bokken’s Hut back to go and collect some moonraddishes for Svetlana.

Asuna and Kittyto decided to stay in the camp while Harfeld and Freyalise went to harvest the radishes. There was a mother boar and her piglet eating the radishes when they arrived. They charged Harfeld, but he was able to subdue them. The party had roast boar for dinner.

At the trading post, they:
– handed over Tuskgutter’s head for a reward
– met a cleric of Erastil who wanted them to try and locate a ruined temple in the forest
– asked if anyone knew anything about a missing wizard, but no one did
– Asuna gave Svetlana the moon radishes and helped her cook them
– asked if anyone knew anything about where to find magical purple honey
– did some trading

Asuna and Kittyto decided to take the bandits that had been languishing in Oleg’s pits up to Restov to turn them over to justice there. On the way back to Restov, one of the bandits escaped during the night, but Asuna was able to chase him done and killed him. They said in a well appointed suite and drank Corentyn wine.

Harfeld and Freyalise decided to explore the forest to attempt to find the honey or the temple. They camped outside of the forest on the first night and found that someone had been playing tricks on them during the night.

The next day while travelling through the forest, they came across two large nests in trees in the forest, but they were unable to work out what kind of creatures live in the nests.

They also found a bush that sounded like it was filled with ringing bells, but didn’t find any source for the sound. That night Freyalise saw a stag made of lights moving through the forest.

The next day they travelled through the forest and came across a ruined shrine of Erastil. Exploring a cave in the cliff behind the shrine, they found and killed a grizzly bear. As the bear died, it transformed itself into a man, and then turned to dust. When they emerged from the cave, everything thing seemed brighter and more cheerful outside.

Return to Bokken

The party was within sight of the Old Sycamore, which they knew was home to some mites.

Harfeld was still suffering from the DEX damage done by the Giant Whiptailed Centipede they fought in the last session. He is also a dwarf, and the party knew that mites hate dwarves, so he decided to stay at the camp while the others went to scout the tree.

Asuna wanted to go and scout the mite tree, hoping to speak to the mites and find out if they had any information for them. Kitty-toe examined the tree, but didn’t find any way in or sign of mites. Asuna came over and had a look and found a hole leading down through the roots of the tree. She went down and followed a passage way, attempting to remain stealthy.

She found a room with a workbench, which contained two mites. One was launching spiky metallic objects into the mouth of the other using some sort of cobbled together contraption made of wood and bone. Asuna went into the room, and tried to persuade the mites to let her explore their house, but they were having none of it. As the mites came to attack her, she retreated up and out of the tree.

The party continued heading east, back towards Bokken’s hut. On the way they found a cache of wizardly goods buried north of a lightning struck tree.

They gave Bokken the fang berries they’d collected, in exchange for some potions of cure light wounds and endure elements. Harfeld noticed that Bokken was missing a finger, and he told the party that it was cut off by his brother. Kitty-toe told Bokken that the lightning struck tree was also certainly the work of Bokken’s brother.

Bokken has enlisted Kitty-toe to be his apprentice, and has sent him out to collect magical purple honey from the giant bees that live in the Narlmarches. Bokken has given the party a ring of protection +2 to trade with the bees for the honey, along with a small vial with which to collect the honey.

They have placed an order with Bokken for an oil of mending, an potion of create water, a potion of cat’s grace, and a potion of mirror image.

Welcome to your campaign!
A blog for your campaign

Wondering how to get started? Here are a few tips:

1. Invite your players

Invite them with either their email address or their Obsidian Portal username.

2. Edit your home page

Make a few changes to the home page and give people an idea of what your campaign is about. That will let people know you’re serious and not just playing with the system.

3. Choose a theme

If you want to set a specific mood for your campaign, we have several backgrounds to choose from. Accentuate it by creating a top banner image.

4. Create some NPCs

Characters form the core of every campaign, so take a few minutes to list out the major NPCs in your campaign.

A quick tip: The “+” icon in the top right of every section is how to add a new item, whether it’s a new character or adventure log post, or anything else.

5. Write your first Adventure Log post

The adventure log is where you list the sessions and adventures your party has been on, but for now, we suggest doing a very light “story so far” post. Just give a brief overview of what the party has done up to this point. After each future session, create a new post detailing that night’s adventures.

One final tip: Don’t stress about making your Obsidian Portal campaign look perfect. Instead, just make it work for you and your group. If everyone is having fun, then you’re using Obsidian Portal exactly as it was designed, even if your adventure log isn’t always up to date or your characters don’t all have portrait pictures.

That’s it! The rest is up to your and your players.
